“This publication features exclusively the textiles from the Friends of the Ixchel Museum (FOIM) collection. The original goal of FOIM was to have a us-based collection of high-qualkity textiles that could be used f or exhibits and displays withouth the challenges of borrowing pieces from Guatemala. The concept and core came from the founder, Lucie S. Hempstead. Soon after, we received and amazing collection of over 400 pieces from Sylvia and Guillermo Sánchez – some so valuable they were repatriated to the Ixchel Museum in Guatemala.”
